What you will be doing:
The Warehouse Technician supports production, service, and project execution by ensuring parts, materials, and equipment are received, stored, picked, and shipped accurately and efficiently. This role is hands-on and operates in an industrial environment, including the safe operation of forklifts and overhead cranes and the construction of custom shipping crates for high-value equipment.
The role directly contributes to on-time delivery, productivity, and quality.
Materials Receiving & Control
- Receive incoming materials, parts, and equipment
- Verify quantities and condition against packing slips and purchase orders
- Identify and report shortages, damage, or discrepancies
- Label and store materials in designated locations
- Maintain traceability of parts where required
Inventory & Warehouse Organization
- Maintain organized, clearly labeled storage areas
- Ensure parts are stored to prevent damage or loss
- Participate in cycle counts and physical inventories
- Support accuracy of inventory records in ERP / inventory systems
Picking & Job Staging
- Pick parts accurately for work orders, service jobs, and projects
- Stage materials for production and field work
- Support urgent and priority jobs as directed
- Ensure kits are complete before release to the shop
Shipping, Packaging & Crating
- Prepare shipments for courier and freight
- Build wooden crates, skids, and protective packaging for heavy or sensitive equipment
- Secure loads using appropriate blocking, strapping, and bracing methods
- Prepare packing lists and shipping documentation
Equipment & Material Handling
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes
- Inspect lifting equipment before use and report issues
- Follow all lifting practices, load ratings, and safety procedures
Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Work in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse flow and efficiency
- Support quality objectives by preventing handling damage and errors
What we need from you:
- Experience in a warehouse or industrial environment
- Ability to operate forklifts (certification preferred)
- Ability to operate overhead cranes (certification preferred)
- Comfortable handling heavy and awkward loads using proper equipment
- Ability to read work orders, packing slips, and labels
- Basic computer skills (ERP, inventory systems, email)
- Comfortable using hand and power tools (crate building, skids, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and organization
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Experience in electrical, motor repair, panel shop, or manufacturing environment
- Rigging or hoisting training
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite)
- Valid driver’s license
